Guest accessAmple free street parking available directly in front. DO NOT park in adjacent driveway as that easement is shared with next door neighbor. Most guests choose to walk around as you downtown and within a few blocks of the Central Avenue District and all historic area is within one mile. If visiting the lakes it is best to drive. If visiting Oaklawn Race Track & Casino, it's less than two miles away -- most either drive there or take a taxi or Uber/Lyft. In most cases, parking in Hot Springs is relatively plentiful and free.
Additional notesLike many downtown settings experiencing revitalization, Orange Street is an eclectic mix of beautifully restored properties together with some yet to be renovated. (The house next door is being renovated now.) And right around the corner, Ouachita Avenue has new investment energy with the opening of Splash Wine Bar, Chrysalis Day Spa, SQZBX Pizza, and The Starlite Lounge in addition to local's favorite Colorado Grill.
Guest interactionHost does not live on property but is local and available if needed.
Neighborhood overview522 Orange Street is on the block connecting Quapaw Avenue (main avenue of the residential historic district) and Ouachita Avenue (so-called "Sidetown"), which is two blocks from the south end of popular Central Avenue downtown historic district. Both routes lead you directly to Central Avenue but Ouachita is a few minutes faster and features new shops, bars, and restaurants including Splash Wine Bar, Chrysalis Day Spa, SQZBX Pizza, Starlite Club, and Colorado Grill. And be sure to check out the new Machine Gun Grotto at the Armory -- where you can literally shoot a Thompson Sub Machine Gun. The neighborhood is quirky and fun and a convenient walk to everything downtown.
Getting aroundMost guests prefer to just walk around as you are right downtown and everything in the Historic District is within a mile. Lakes are best explored with your car. Oaklawn Race Track & Casino is less than two miles away so it is walkable but most either drive or take a taxi or Uber/Lyft. It is not overly difficult to park in Hot Springs and it is mostly free.
